Job Description

The position is for a full-time, Armed Security Officer or Unarmed Special Conservator of the Peace. We will train you for this position, if you are a licensed Unarmed Security Officer with DCJS, with a minimum of 1 year security experience. The detail is 24/7/365, requires working three, 12 hour shifts week 1, and four 12 hour shifts week 2. The location is in Roanoke. The Officer will receive the required training to perform the duties as a Custody Agent. The position requires taking custody of a TDO person from a Law Enforcement Officer, or at Crisis care center. The position will require driving for short and long distance at times. The applicant must have reliable transportation to and from the site.

Compensation is dependent on role and experience. Must be active DCJS registered as Armed Security Officer or SCOP to be eligible for $22-26 pay range. Candidates without active DCJS are still eligible for hiring but at a commensurate pay.

Additional Job Requirements

• Must have effective reading, writing and communication skills
• Must have own means of transportation to and from the site
• Must be able to pass a criminal background Investigation
• Must be able to pass a drug screening
• Must have a minimum of 1 year security experience
• Must be a team player
• Must have the ability to de-escalate when needed
• Crisis Intervention Training(CIT) is preferred, but Training will be provided
• Must have Excellent Report Writing Skills
• Licensed Unarmed Security Officer with DCJS - training will be provided for Armed Security Officer position
• Valid Driver's License (Required)
• English (Required)

Schedule

• Full-time position
• 12-hour shifts
• Week 1: Three 12-hour shifts
• Week 2: Four 12-hour shifts
• 24/7/365 operation
• Expected hours: 40-44 per week
• Location: Roanoke, VA
