Job Description

This position is for full-time Alternative Transport Drivers. The Drivers will be required to be registered as Unarmed Security Officers with Virginia DCJS. Training will be provided if needed. The Drivers will be stationed in the Abingdon area of Operations. The driver will be dispatched to various locations to pick up TDO persons for our Custody Agents or Law Enforcement officers and transport the individual to specific facilities throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport TDO persons to designated location
• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating the vehicle
• Conduct pre and post trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in proper working condition and all equipment is in vehicle
• Load and unload cargo as necessary - must be able to lift 50 Lbs.
• Maintain accurate records of completed transports, including receipts and signatures
• Communicate with dispatch to receive transport instructions and updates
• Follow established routes and schedules to ensure timely transports
• Strong conflict management skills to handle challenging situations that may arise during the transport and ability to de-escalate

Requirements

• Must be registered as Unarmed Security Officer with Virginia DCJS - training will be provided if needed
• Valid state motor vehicle operator's License (Required)
• Must have a clean driving record and bring your DMV record to the interview
• High school or equivalent (Required)
• Must be able to pass a background investigation and Drug Screening
• Must be able to pass random drug testing
• Strong conflict management skills to handle challenging situations that may arise during the transport and ability to de-escalate
• Must have excellent reading, writing and communication skills
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work
• CPR and First Aid certification is desirable or you will be trained
• CIT Training preferred, Training will be provided
• 1 year Unarmed Security and/or Transport experience (Required)
• Previous experience as a Transport Driver or in a similar position preferred
• Familiarity with security procedures is a plus
• English (Required)
• Ability to Commute: Abingdon, VA (Required)

Schedule

• Full-time position
• 12-hour shifts
• Day shift, Night shift, and Overnight shift available
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
• Holidays
• Overtime available
• Stationed in the Abingdon area of Operations
